Teenager Dies While Selling And Buying Gaming System – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
A 19-year-old died after being shot while selling and buying a gaming system on Monday.
Kenneth Akil Johnson had agreed to sell a gambling system and games to a suspect for $ 700. In messages between Johnson and the suspect, Johnson said he would count the money before giving the suspect the gambling system.
Johnson and the suspect met at the 8500 block of Ranch Hand Tr. Where the exchange would take place.
Johnson arrived with a black backpack and the suspect handed the money to Johnson, where he began to count it and put it in his pocket. When Johnson removed the gaming system, the suspect noticed that the gaming system was not the one referred to in the messages.
Authorities say Johnson began to run away, leading the suspect to warn Johnson by pulling out a gun and firing two shots into the ground, and telling Johnson to stop. Johnson continued to run, which resulted in the suspect firing several shots at Johnson, one of them hitting the 19-year-old.
Police say the suspect provided medical treatment while a witness called 911.
Medical staff arrived at the location where they declared Johnson dead.
An arrest warrant has been issued against the suspect. This is an ongoing investigation.
