Founded in 1999, Marathon Capital, LLC is an investment bank. Marathon Capital has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), one of the world’s largest industrial, energy and infrastructure lenders. SMBC is a member of the SMBC Group. Alongside the agreement, the parties entered into a definitive agreement for a minority stake in Marathon Capital. The proceeds will be used to accelerate the growth and expansion of the business.

As part of the strategic collaboration agreement, Marathon Capital and SMBC will collaborate to create and execute a new mandate business covering strategic advisory, capital markets and credit solutions for clients of both companies in the world. Marathon Capital’s strategic advisory practice will increase SMBC’s global reach and capabilities in credit, debt capital markets and structured finance. SMBC’s balance sheet and lending capacity will complement Marathon Capital’s fundraising, project finance, tax expertise, off-take advisory services and M&A franchise.

Advisors
