Songs of Conquest hits PC April 28 in a “love letter to ’90s turn-based strategy games”
Songs of Conquest, a brand new turn-based strategy game from developer Lavapotion, has a release date and it’s soon. The game will drop into Early Access on Steam on April 28, 2022, just over a month away.
Speaking as part of a deep dive into Future Games Show gameplay that you can watch above, game designer Carl Toftfelt explained that the title is a “love letter to turn-based strategy games. per lap classics of the 90s”.
In the game, you will control powerful mages called Wielders and be tasked with expanding your city, raising an army and being ready to face the enemy on the battle grid. Of course, you will also set out to explore each of the maps to find treasures as well, especially powerful hidden artifacts.
With four different factions to play as in the game, and with many units with unique abilities to use in battle, a player is spoiled for choice to get involved with. You will also earn Essence with each round of combat, which can then be used to unleash very powerful magic on your enemies. Of course, you can also go the brute force route if you prefer.
Additionally, the game will come with a level editing tool – the same used by the Lavapotion developers themselves – so you can try your hand at creating your own battle maps.
Songs of Conquest will be released exclusively on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.com on April 28, 2022 in Early Access.
