Samsung’s new 5nm Exynos chipset will clash with Apple M1 and want to gain a foothold in laptops
Samsung has been working with AMD on the new Exynos chipset for two years, which will include an integrated AMD Radeon graphics chip. The launch is slowly approaching and is scheduled for the second half of this year.
The new Exynos will be manufactured in this way using 5nm technology. AMD’s graphics chip will already be built on the RDNA2 architecture, similar to the Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards or chips from the latest PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S game consoles.
As a result, the chip is expected to deliver high graphics performance while supporting modern technologies, including ray tracing, for example. The new Exynos is supposed to be scalable, so we will meet it not only on phones or tablets but also on laptops, so Samsung will be competing with the Apple M1 and the future M2, which is expected at the end of this year. year.
We will see what the chip will look like with the consumption / energy ratio, which is one of the most important characteristics of mobile devices. Apple has made major strides so far, and the next-gen M2 chip will likely be produced through an improved 5nm + process at TSMC.
Samsung is also facing a more difficult situation as it has to rely on the compatibility and optimization of Windows 10 operating systems for Arm or ChromeOS. However, in the case of tablets, it will certainly provide an interesting connection with the Android system.
