Microsoft accidentally ruins PC gaming performance in latest Windows 10 update

If Windows 10 is pushing you to update, you might want to keep delaying it because Microsoft’s latest patch is causing problems for gamers. It’s a story as old as time, or at least as old as the operating system, with gamers flooding a Reddit thread complaining that their games are nearly unreadable with the latest update installed.
The issues range from Vsync issues to game stuttering, dropped frames, and in some cases frequent BSOD crashes. This is far from an isolated incident, with many comments identifying the Windows 10 update as the culprit, and it doesn’t seem like you’re safe on either side of the color spectrum, either. Team green, blue and red are all affected by a wide range of Nvidia and AMD graphics cards and Intel and AMD processors caught in the mix.
The issues appear to be present on KB5001330 and KB5001337 versions of Windows 10, according to a report from Computer Base. Nvidia issued a statement about the issue, saying “If you see poor performance in games, check to see if rolling back Windows 10 update KB5000842 fixes the problem.”
The editors give a non-exhaustive list of games suffering from the update, including Doom Eternal, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Red Dead Redemption 2, although there may be many more. There are ways to increase fps if Windows 10 won’t accept no for a response, which often isn’t the case, but there is no guarantee that these methods will help, so it’s best to ‘Cancel your update if you get stuck with creepy fps issues that weren’t there before.
