Michigan Internet Gaming and Sportsbook Operators Report Combined Total Gross Receipts of $148.2 Million in July

(PRESS RELEASE) – Commercial and tribal operators in Michigan reported a combined total of $148.2 million in Internet gaming gross receipts and Internet sports betting gross receipts in July. Revenue rose 8.3% from June results of $136.9 million.
Internet gaming gross receipts for July were $126.6 million, up 4.2% from the $121.5 million reported in June. Sports betting gross revenue was $21.6 million from $15.4 million in June, an increase of 40%.
The combined total of Internet gaming adjusted gross revenue and sports betting adjusted gross revenue was $131.2 million, including $117.2 million from Internet gaming and $14 million from sports betting . Adjusted monthly Internet gaming gross revenue increased by 7.1%, and Internet sports betting adjusted gross revenue increased by $9 million or 179.5%.
Compared to July 2021, Internet gaming adjusted gross revenue increased by 41% and Internet sports betting adjusted gross revenue increased by 13%.
The total internet sports betting handle of $206.1 million fell 23.7% from June’s handle of $270 million.
Operators submitted $24.9 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan in July, including:
– Internet gaming taxes and fees: $24.1 million
– Taxes and fees on sports betting on the Internet: $815,409
Detroit’s three casinos said they paid the City of Detroit $6.9 million in betting taxes and municipal service fees in July, including:
– Internet gaming taxes and fees: $6.5 million
– Taxes and fees on sports betting on the Internet: $386,187
Tribal operators said they made $2.7 million in payments to governing bodies.
In the first seven months of 2022, overall Internet gaming adjusted gross revenue totaled $798.9 million, and Internet sports betting adjusted gross revenue totaled $88.1 million.

During the month of July, 15 operators were authorized for both forms of online betting.
