Mental Health Awareness Month – HyperX and Rise Over Disorder Highlight Commitment to Improving Mental Health for All
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif .– (BUSINESS WIRE) – HyperX, the gaming division of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., today announced its partnership with Rise Above the Disorder (RAD), a non-profit organization covering the cost of mental health care for people in the whole world. With the help of HyperX Game Ambassadors and Partners, a PSA Video was created to help raise awareness of mental health care needs and support. HyperX will also host a HXCKED charity streaming event to support RAD, where funds donated will help fund mental health services for those in need.
A mental health PSA was developed as part of HyperX and RAD’s desire to destigmatize the conversation about mental health, encourage people to seek help, and ensure that support resources are available. Several HyperX Ambassadors have lent their time to the cause, including content creators like Imane “Pokimane” Anys, professional athletes like Gordon Hayward, Aerial Powers and JuJu Smith-Schuster, and esports stars from Cloud9, XSET and Panda. The PSA encourages individuals to take care of their physical and mental health, while also providing information about the resources available through the RAD organization.
“HyperX is honored to partner with Rise Above the Disorder as part of an awareness campaign during Mental Health Awareness Month,” said Dustin Illingworth, Head of Influencer Marketing and Head of Health and well-being at HyperX. “This past year has had an immense impact on mental health for many and with the incredible stories of our Ambassadors and the essential resources provided by Rise Above the Disorder, we hope to be part of a long-term solution to the issues facing us. countless members of the HyperX gaming family and community. ”
During PSA, each of the sports, gaming professionals and influencers shared their personal stories and insights on how they learned to cope with the stress of being in the public eye. PSA can be seen here.
Over the past year, gaming has had a positive impact on maintaining contact, providing home entertainment for families and friends during the pandemic. As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, HyperX will be hosting an online charity gaming event called HXCKED, featuring notable Ambassadors and Influencers including Powers, Cloud9 and Team Liquid members playing Call of Duty: Warzone and other games. The Charities Stream supports ARD activities by spreading awareness of useful mental health resources and letting people know that they are not alone. Proceeds from the HXCKED Charity Stream will go to RAD. The event will take place on Friday, May 21 and will be viewable on HyperX Twitch Channel. Follow HyperX social media for more details.
During the HXCKED livestream, RAD will offer the purchase of a RAD “You Are Not Alone” T-shirt and for each T-shirt sold during the livestream, RAD will allocate one hour of therapy to a person in need.
