NME gave God of War Ragnarok four out of five stars in our review, and found plenty to praise with the game’s combat.
“Fighting is compulsive because there is a real weight to fight in God of War Ragnarok‘s scraping,” reads our review. “Kratos lunges forward with ferocity, but there’s still weight with every swing of the Leviathan’s axe, and you feel a slight resistance as he unleashes his signature Chaos Blades.”
We also enjoyed the game’s “stunning visuals” in every area, but felt Ragnarok didn’t do enough to build on the success of the 2018 reboot.
“Shifting the focus to the Atreus story seems like a smart move and the universe painted here is as beautiful narratively as it is graphically, but some players may feel like they’ve done this trick before,” found our review.
In other gaming news, EA has confirmed that it will be “stopping development” on the Project Cars series.
