‘FIFA 23’ is officially the biggest launch in the ‘FIFA’ series
FIFA 23 won the Fifa series its biggest launch ever, EA has confirmed.
Released September 30 FIFA 23 is the latest installment in the long-running football video game series, which is expected to be renamed EA Sports FC starting next year following the end of EA’s partnership with FIFA.
EA has now confirmed that over 10.3 million players are registered on FIFA 23 during the first week, marking the largest launch period in Fifa franchise history.
“The response from our fans has been nothing short of amazing, and we’re thrilled to have our community playing with their favorite players and teams across FIFA 23 in record numbers,” Nick Wlodyka, SVP and GM of EA Sports FCsaid in a statement.
“With the men’s and women’s World Cups and exciting updates to our women’s club football content still to come, we are just beginning to deliver the most authentic and immersive experience for players to date.”
According gamesindustry.bizphysical sales of FIFA 23 – which topped the UK physical games chart – are up 1.6% from those of FIFA 22 in 2021, reversing two years of declining retail sales for the Fifa franchise.

The PlayStation 5 has become the dominant platform in terms of Fifa launch sales, with 41% of all boxed copies being sold for the console. While 30% of sales were for PS4 and 17% for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch shared a 6% share of sales.
