Fall Guys Developer ‘Sorry’ Over Auto-Buy Controversy

fall guys Developer Mediatonic has apologized for the auto-shopping store debacle. Recently, fall guys has been plagued with a bug – or so players have claimed – where the in-game store makes purchases without input. Several players complained about the issue on Reddit and Twitter, and Mediatonic was initially not very interested in these complaints. That said, today the problem has escalated and those isolated complaints have become a larger problem, prompting Mediatonic to change course.

Originally, Mediatonic denied that the issue existed and assured players that the problem was on their end, saying there had to be a button input for a purchase to be made. Below you can read the email he sent to a player about the issue, courtesy of Reddit:

“Please let me correct something in your response, reads the customer support email.” You said it was a “buggy purchase” and a “known issue”. None of these things is the case. The purchase was made by you, not a bug. Whether it’s intentional or not, it always is. It’s not a “known issue” because it isn’t a problem. Items cannot be purchased automatically by the system, they still require player input. Again, accidentally or not, you made this entry and purchased the item. In accordance with our EULA, which you have accepted, all purchases are final and will not be refunded. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused and hope I have clarified this for you.”

This new shop is a joke, was checking out some items and it literally automatically bought this faceplate which I will never use. At least have a confirmation button or something. Not even a cancel purchase button? My controller has no issues with stuck buttons or double pressing when not intended. by FallGuysGame

Of course, that’s not the best customer service. Not only does this go against the “customer is always right” policy that most places have adopted, but the tone isn’t great either. It’s certainly not very professional, and it’s not accurate either.

Since all of this happened, Mediatonic have changed their tune and announced that they are working on redesigning the store and refunding everyone who encounters the issue.

We’ve heard your comments about accidental purchases – and we’re sorry!

To do well :

✨ We are improving the store design to avoid this
✨ All cosmetic refund requests from June 21, 2022 will be honored until we improve the store
