EPOS has a knack for producing some of the best gaming headsets on the market. The GSP 302, 600 and 601 definitely stand out as models that define the high-end electronics of the audio company. The all new EPOS headset material comes in the form of the H3 Closed Acoustic Gaming Headset. And unsurprisingly, it maintains the high quality that is attached to other EPOS headsets. The H3 sounds great when gaming and even when listening to Zoom meetings, plus it features a simple design and a black color burst that is to be commended. Audio-wise, the H3 produces a deep bass that augments the audio feedback of all the huge explosions and thumping bangs happening onscreen. And thanks to the ergonomic ear cushions attached to it, the H3 is incredibly comfortable when your ears are dealing with the aforementioned boost in bass.
The headset offers powerful noise reduction capabilities that match those of the attached microphone. Like most comparable EPOS headset models, the H3’s microphone can easily be switched on and off by simply pulling it down and pushing it up. And luckily, my voice came out clearly every moment of an intense multiplayer discussion in the lobby. Access to volume is via an easily accessible dial on the right ear cup, which is certainly a blessing. When it comes to its comfort factor, the H3 stays cool for hours of gaming marathons and the lightweight feel means it will never feel like a big paperweight on top of your head. As someone who’s been given a lot of … let’s say, “keen” comments about their big head, the H3 manages to fit it perfectly thanks to its adjustable fit. The H3 sounds and looks like a dream all the time.
Another factor that makes the H3 a great addition to anyone’s gaming / PC setup is its cross-platform compatibility. It is able to work with PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One. Access to studio-grade headphones that work with a wide variety of gaming gear is well worth the $ 119 price tag. In addition, the fact that the H3 is compatible with all EPOS external sound cards (which include the GSX 300 and GSX 1200 PRO) is also a plus as it can improve its audio delivery even further. The PC and console cables that come with the H3 allow for quick plug-ins, so switching between devices always ends up being a straightforward task. While there are only two color options to choose from (Onyx Black and Ghost White), you’ll come to appreciate them both because they look so stylish on the H3. Simply put, there’s a lot to like about the H3 and not much to complain about.
- The H3 helmet model comes in a much smaller frame that fits and feels better compared to EPOS | SENNHEISER GSP 601 Pro Wired Gaming Headset
- The overall sound and mic quality of the headset is equally powerful
- The ear cups allow for maximum comfort, and access to the mic and volume dial is an easy affair
