Community Spotlight 2021.09.04 – Giant Bomb
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back on the best community-created works of the past week. First, let’s talk about the “programming note!” Jeff Grubb’s GrubbSnax changes its start time to 8:30 a.m. PT / 11:30 a.m. ET! This week’s edition was the first to air at that time, so keep that in mind going forward.
Dan Auer, the former head of design for Giant Bomb and GameSpot, announced they leave and cited mental health and improvement as reasons. Please respect their privacy on the rationale, but also thank them for the many logos and artwork they have provided over the years!
In better news, Jan announced that they were promoted to “Senior Producer” at Giant Bomb! Congratulate them on this new breakthrough in their career if you haven’t already! Speaking of Jan, their mother has just retired.
VoidBurger was the publisher behind “The Very Online Show 05: Breaking Brendan Fraser” and although I feel like I say it every time, but it’s his best work yet. If you have any courteous and polite suggestions, please use the link above to send them to him.

Editing the Giant Bomb wiki is a thankless job, and editing images to have “clean” box art in particular (just ask Marino). Daniel_Newton started a tally of every game page they edited to have better box art on their wiki.
- @ yyninja’s Fine stripe The review explains why they found it to be an “incomplete” independent action / adventure experience despite its dark and compelling aesthetic.
- @Misterreese’s review of The Call of Cthulhu – The Video Game quickly details why they couldn’t help but find it was a shallow but enjoyable introductory hike into the world of cosmic horror.

13 years after building Giant Bomb, Dave Snider finally has a Person page on the wiki. That’s right. Hardcore Dave himself has a place in the annals of video game history. It turns out that Supergiant Games gave him a special thank you in both Pyre and Hades. Even Dave didn’t know they were doing this!
