Allen and Bills dump the Packers in preseason finale
Josh Allen completed his first nine attempts and finished 20 of 26 for 194 yards and two touchdowns as he led the Buffalo Bills to a 19-0 victory over the Green Bay Packers in both teams’ preseason finals.
Allen capped Buffalo’s first practice with a perfect pitch, hitting Gabriel Davis in stride – one step ahead of cornerback Isaac Yiadom – on a post road for a 31-yard touchdown on the third and 20. Allen then sent a tight 3-yard pass down the middle to Zack Moss to give the Bills a 13-0 lead on his third and final possession.
The fourth-year starter showed his familiar double-threat ability by making his best pitch three games before Moss’s touchdown. Rushing to his left, Allen threw a pass through his body to a wide open Cole Beasley for a gain of 21 yards.
Buffalo finished 3-0, extending their preseason winning streak to eight games, dating back to a 26-13 loss to Cincinnati on August 26, 2018. The Packers finished 0-3, closing a preseason over which the majority of their starters did. do not play. Aaron Rodgers, the reigning NFL MVP, missed the entire preseason and was one of 31 players the Packers rested against Buffalo.
Jordan Love, Rodgers’ heir apparent, played until the third quarter and finished 12 of 18 for 149 yards and an interception. He was returning after missing the game last weekend with an injury to his pitcher’s shoulder. A myriad of mistakes led the Packers to find themselves empty, with their first three possessions stranded inside the Buffalo 21.
